Three months ago, I made the decision to turn something I had carried with me for a long time into a business.

Zohara Atelier was born from a deep love for Southern Africa and from the conviction that this extraordinary part of the world deserves to be experienced with greater depth, intention and care.

Building a business from the ground up has been both humbling and exhilarating.

The first three months have been about much more than creating itineraries. They have been about building a commercial foundation: understanding markets, developing partnerships, negotiating with suppliers, shaping the right positioning and learning where real demand exists.

But alongside the commercial side, there has been another question that matters just as much to me:

How can a travel business create value beyond the booking itself?

Southern Africa is not simply a destination. It is a collection of extraordinary landscapes, communities, businesses, conservation initiatives, guides, artisans and people whose livelihoods are connected to tourism.

I want Zohara Atelier to be part of that ecosystem in a meaningful way.

That means working with local partners wherever possible, directing value into local businesses, creating opportunities for smaller and specialist suppliers, and encouraging travellers to experience Southern Africa not simply as visitors, but with a genuine appreciation for the people and places they encounter.

I am immensely proud to call this region home.

From the mountains and coastline of the Cape to the extraordinary wilderness of Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and beyond, there is an authenticity here that cannot be replicated.

And perhaps that is what I love most about building Zohara Atelier: I am not simply selling a destination I believe in it.

Three months in, the business is still young. There is much to build, refine and learn.

But the foundations are strong: commercial ambition, exceptional local relationships, responsible growth and an unwavering belief in the value of Southern Africa.

I am excited about what comes next.

And above all, I am proud to be building something that connects people with a part of the world I truly love, while contributing, in my own small way, to the economy and communities that make it so remarkable.

This is only the beginning.
